Gunung Stong
Thursday, June 19, 2008
This is kinda overdued but doesnt matter. Well, I came back from Gunung Stong aka Jelawang in Kelantan, Malaysia on Friday. It was one of the most enjoyable trips I have been to!

I signed up this trip not knowing anyone else in the group other than Xie Ren. He told me that Weili is supposedly on the trip as well but it seems otherwise. But, that doesnt matter.

I had to give the briefing a miss due to the @#$%^$@#& Scouts camp. Lets not bring it up. Its really disheartening that I gave up so many things for that @$#@$@#% event. Anyway, since I was absent from the breifing, I finally met my members on the day itself! How exciting. I realised that one of my group members was my batch NJCian, Ai Ling from SC. No wonder her name sounds soooo familiar. Well, we have a lao-jiao Charlene in our group to do all the shopping so... Ha =)

We took a long 10+ hrs train ride from JB KTM train station to Dabong town. It was the second time in my life that I sat on the jerky train ride WITH BED. Note: WITH BED. It was kinda fun, getting to know the people going on the trip.

First day at Dabong, we went caving. It wasnt as impressive as Gua Tempurung in Ipoh but it was quite cool as well. Always an experience. I quite like the feeling of being in a HUGE and SPACIOUS area, and having an opening above me with light coming through. It has the feel of those olden chinese fighting shows.

After lunch, we went on to proceed to base camp of Stong. Lo and behold, it started to rain but since this is a waterfall trek, who cares about getting wet!! The only sad thing is that we have to give up going up via the waterfall trail and take the jungle trail instead. It was quite treacherous and tough to a little extent, but very managable I feel. My bag was heavy due to the tent and the can foods (I was the only guy in the group...) but still very much managable compared to my Yong Yap experience.

Upon reaching base camp, we set up our tent! It was totally screwed up. The fly sheet cant seems to fit, water is coming in, rain pours etc. Sux. Very (or should I say Extremely) diappointed with the management for the poor logistics. 24 pax 3 tents. lOl. Of which, 1 totally sux. lOl x 2. Well, took a bath in the water at the fall with the rest of the guys. There is only one word to describe. SHIOK. At night, we started cooking and we were really lucky to have Wei Chuan as our cook. He was really good at it and never fail to impress us. Rebecca said a classic line "I didnt know instant noodle tasted so good...". From then on, she was labelled as our hungry ghost. At night, the girls were put up in the huts cos the tents were too "cui" to stay in. I went into one of the better tents with Shun Hua and Jizheng.

Second day was spent ascending to the summit and descending. The view and excitement of the summit is comparative to how brilliant I want this paragraph to be.

Day 3 was fun. Really fun. We went to the waterfallS behind the base camp. We jumped in at each waterfall and waded around in the water. We even tried out water rapelling! Really fun! No words can describe =)

only if Jasmine could come along...

Wet Fun Exciting Ubin
Sunday, June 08, 2008
Yesterday, finally settled down to go ubin with KO, JH KH and Jon. Well, have been putting it off due to forecast of "poor weather". However, during the last time we put it off, the sun was sorching the whole day! Crap! Well, decided to disregard the "thunderstorm in late morning and early afternoon" forecast and "just do it" this time round. Seems like a wrong decision.

The day started off with nice weather until the moment we hit Tampines. Gosh! The sky started pouring! We got to Changi Village to have breakfast and settled down to playing ass-hole dai-dee. I still cant believe that this is the first time JH is exposed to the game! We waited for 2 hours efore the sky started clearing and we decided to go over to Ubin.

Well, day on Ubin started with boss being a boss and bargaining over the cost of the raincoat they bought. Its just damn Boss. Well, we set of for the west quarry immediately. The weather was still really wet during this point of time, but the worst is yet to be. At the most western tip, my tyre BURST! Not knowing the phone number of the bike shop, we had to help push my lousy spoilt bike all the way back to jetty. Thats like 4km? Pui.

Had lunch at First Stop. It was quite good. Started with some coconut!

Then, came my good-old horfan! 2 words: Humongous, Declicious.

After that we changed the bike and went on the the eastern trails of Ubin. Quite fun. It was quite a challenge going down (and up) those slippery mud trails. Any slip and it gonna be REAL messy. Well, it was kinda crazy at that point of time but felt quite glad that all of us escaped unscathed. I still remember my old bloody accident and also Andy's bad fall off the bend that left his whole leg bloody. Opps!

Went to the newly opened Chek Jawa area. Quite cool! Below is the rock where would make a perfect dating spot... And yes, Mr Sim is again at his Cool Poses.

The newly constructed boardwalk that brings us around the coast. There is another that goes through the swamp.

This is the newly constructed viewing tower that is at least 4 storeys high. Super shag to go on top of it.

Beautiful scenery from the top of it...

Finally, we went to Puaka Peak and we were treated with the most beautiful view of the day... 新州九寨沟!Managed to use my handphone camera to take a parannomic view of the top...

Ended the day after that... Had a really great day. Only that if Jas was around, it would have been much greater... Hope she is having fun over at Germany... Miss you... Back home. Kinda shag. Haha. It has been some time since I cycled... in the rain! =)

Buds of the day (in random order):

Concubine Tan.

VP Yee

Boss Sim

Mr Camera Thng!

Cheers

Exciting Friday
Friday, June 06, 2008
Had quite an interesting day today. Well, went to swim with Siahjen and Kahonn at Jalan Basar Swimming Complex. Quite fun. Chatted with Siahjen while we tried to teach KO how to swim. KO seems to be progressing well! Good job. I also swam a couple of laps volunterily today. Well, felt quite ok and comfortable. Quite happy. Gaining confidence slowly.

After that, finally went down to sign up for 2 star kayaking! Hope it will be an interesting crowd. Looking forward to it.

After that came ack to Clementi for KTV with KO and FQ. Quite interesting too! First time since very very long that I had a chance to go for a CHINESE KTV. Haha. Missed those days. Really enjoyed the songs though our singing kinda sux.

We came back hall and there was another food tasting! Well, food tasting = free dinner. This caterer seems quite decent. I dont mind them serving me next 2 years. Its always worth a try. Change is good sometimes. But I am more or less ok with food so... Anything goes la =)

Oh, after swimming today, realised that my white-orange wrist band broke. Kinda sad. Guess I would make a new one to replace it! Keke. Missing dear throughout the day =( Haiz... Its only SIX DAYS???!!!! Gosh... Hope Jas is having fun there...

Cheers

Lonely

Lonely

Feel kinda sad and lonely these few days. Its only the 4th day today! RoAR! Just couldnt settle down to do anything. There is no one for me to do anything with anyway. I guess I will try to start on my other book that is expiring soon...

Recently think my temper has been getting short. Maybe its because I am just so damn bored and sianz. Sorry to anyone whom I seemed to be slightly dao to. Just hope that my week-long activities in the coming week will make my holidays better.

Dont feel like going back hall for the time being. Damn extra...

On the lighter side, just finished my lab demo "work". The kids are really quite fun! Mostly JC kids. There are a couple of 14 year old super smart NUS High kids that are really into learning. Very earnest and guai. Guess teaching them will be enjoyable. On the other hand, saw this malay couple from Pioneer JC. I dont know what the hell they were doing in the enrichment camp in the first place. They showed no sense of interest (maybe thats what they defined as cool), and after 5 mins into the exp (without really starting), they just happily hanky-panky in front of everyone in the physics lab. That was so super turned off! Guess teaching these kinda kids will be another experience.

Looking forward to my attachment in fact. End my lobo-ing days and get into some action. Now, really doesnt mind any type of schools. Well, its only for 3 weeks, if I ended up in some type of schools I do not like, its good! At least I know what to strike off. If I like it, even better. Haha. Guess the experience counts.

Shall try to find some stuff to do to feel less lonely... boo...

Miss you
ZJ
